Recently, I was enjoying a writing piece that I had received via email. I receive so much email – daily, don’t you? That sounds like a blog topic, actually, where one could rant and rave on and on about the junk mail, spam mail, viruses, etcetera-etcetera. I am quite happy that the aforementioned piece was not Junk Mail and that I didn’t “spam it”. The piece was about a conversation on leverage. As I read, I became quite pleased at the dialogue. I offer here, in short, my “paraphrasement”. The story goes something like this: There were two men gently engaged in friendly conversation. The one gentle man asked of the other gentle man, “…what is your secret to success?” To this, the other gentle man answered, “leverage”. Then the subsequent question was, “What do you leverage?” The other gentle men took a deep breath and almost without thinking, answered, “…four things: my mind, my experience, my time and my money… in that order!” I would like to share some commentary with you regarding leverage.
The most important asset in terms of leverage in the above-mentioned list is “your mind”. I am going to say that again, “the Most Important Asset in Terms of Leverage in the Above-Mentioned List is Your Mind!” Of course you have heard the term “brain-dead”. It is most often used in the medical industry, although, I have heard some of you use it in reference to your current job or previous job(s) regarding your often state of boredom with your work or co-workers – FLOL. Have you ever thought about what the term brain-dead entails? You understand how some patients can be kept on life-support after a very serious accident or illness whereby machines are capable of keeping organs of the body functioning when they would otherwise have stopped otherwise. But when you are brain dead, you are gone. Those machines can hum and pump, hum and pump all night, day, and for years, but brain-dead is brain dead. Why would you risk your most valuable asset with unnecessary stress, confusion, worry – drama, whether it is on the job or with your family?
My point is your mind is a terrible thing to waste, misuse or abuse. Not far into the past, right here at Period Case-Closed, I expressed that I have decided to have peace and to be at peace with myself and everyone around me! Nothing else matters more to me – not my career, money, houses, cars, people, success – nothing matters more than my peace of mind. I will have peace and I will be at peace with everyone. I will protect my most valuable asset, from the daily abundant foolishness. My most valuable resource, that thing which is the greatest of things that I will ever leverage – is my mind. You can have experience, time, money, husband/wife, boyfriend/girlfriend, son/daughter, family/friends, but without a sound mind, you will not recognize any of the above. Oh, I feel a strong sense of a speech coming on…I mean try to leverage your experience, time, and money, or family or friends etc, etc., in that order without a Sound Mind. I tell you, you will be sitting in a corner talking to yourself without a clue of experience, time, money, husband/wife, etcetera, and etcetera – regardless of order. Without the mind, you will be a ship without a sail. Without the mind, you are house and not a home, a checking account with nothing to account, a river without water or a life without purpose! Protect your mind! Leverage your mind by knowing who you are and whom you are giving your energy too, Period, Case-Closed!
